Our Story
Born from a dream
Hey Everyone! We would love to tell you a little bit of our story and who we are—
In 2008, I (Chef Kevin) moved from Quetzaltenango, Guatemala to Brooklyn, NY. I immediately immersed myself into the restaurant industry where I worked for 14 years. During this time, I developed a passion for quality food, unique flavors, and the art of cooking. In 2013, my wife Rebekah moved from Winston-Salem, NC to Brooklyn to pursue her college degree as well as experience in publishing, teaching, nannying, and sales.
It may sound corny but when we met in 2021 it was truly love at first sight.
On our first date I told Rebekah my dream of starting a business- to serve perfectly crafted tacos with the world.
Within a year and a half we decided to get married and move to NC to start our family and business together. We decided to name our food truck ‘South of Brooklyn‘ to represent our love for both the big city and our southern life — the name seemed fitting because we now live in the south of Brooklyn.
